Diamond Sutra Skeleton Mala Necklace
With practice, will and discipline, we create the diamond mind!
The Diamond Sutra, a book which is an examination about the emptiness of all things and the perfection of wisdom, is revered and studied in Zen, Mahayana, and other buddhist sects.
A mala or rosary is typically used for counting mantra recitation (japa), prayers, and even breaths when in meditation. They are made to be handled, worn and worked with - building up and holding a nice lustre and energy as you move through your day. The main purpose of such a tool is to focus and still the mind, transforming your waking consciousness into an ally instead of a painful obstruction.
The Meru or Guru bead is made from a one-off, full skeleton sterling silver casting and fitted with a 1.3mm diamond in the third eye. These lustrous pieces are designed to be worn daily and used frequently.
A total of 54 8mm beads are knotted together with mantra, making 2 revolutions = to 108 count. The matte black onyx and faceted snowflake obsidian beads sparkle and radiate in color toward the silver and diamond Meru Skeleton that hangs closest to the heart.
These pieces are clasped with low profile sterling and end capped with Karen Hill Tribe (N.Thailand) sterling silver lotuses. Onyx provides the bearer with protection of personal energy, deflecting and transforming negative influences. The snowflake obsidian purifies the mind and promotes dispassion and centering, aiding in meditation. The diamond in the third eye (ajna chakra) of the Meru, binds together, integrates and clarifies these properties and the skeleton reminds us to practice as if this was our last breath.. because someday, it will be!
